Wakarusa Music Festival 2014

Waka, waka, waka!!!! Festival season is upon us and to celebrate I worked with the ever expanding Wakarusa Music Festival again this year to do a commemorative print. I did a poster for them back in 2012, which was an adventure and was happy to get some new trippy lady concepts from my head out onto paper.

I liked the idea of an Animal Parade. Painted up nature freaks on display going through the woods to the big event… random animal joining as they pass. Doing a huge shot of tons of animals would have lost detail on things and I like the current setup. I realized she should have a hula hoop somewhere on her saddle though. Its always tough trying to cram every band onto a poster as it takes away from the poster. And most people dont care… but I get it. If I was a band who played I’d want my name on there.

The print is a 5-color print, 18’x 24′ with a print run of 300. I will be selling 30 AP’s copies that are signed / AP’s. The printing came out great and the colors are pretty crazy.

Be sure to look at previous comments to avoid choosing a number that has already been used. Claim to a number will be based on the order of comments. First come, first serve. If you accidentally choose a taken number you can either edit your comment or re-comment w/ a number that is still open. The comments section will be closed after all 100 #’s are assigned. In the case all winning #’s are not chosen, the Lottery will end at Midnight on May 20th and the participants w/ the closest numbers will be the winners.
To avoid people attempting to buy multiple prints under multiple aliases you must post using real names when commenting. This also makes it easier to contact winners.
Winners will be contacted the next day via email w/ a Paypal invoice for the purchase. Invoices must be fulfilled by Sunday (May 25th) @ midnight PST or you will lose you eligibility and claim to a print.

String Cheese Incident “Cosmic Shaman” Oakland print…

Another day,.. another poster. The Fox Theater in Oakland has just been chalk full of good bands rolling through this past couple months which is great because it just down the street. Boulder-based cosmic voyagers, The String Cheese Incident stopped into town for a 3-day run this weekend and reached out for me to do a special print. Last time I worked with them for the their 20th Anniversary New Years print they were fun to work with and people seemed to enjoy the print so I was looking forward to another collaboration.

The concept for this one was a kind of Cosmic Shaman as their music, especially the electric stuff, gets really zoney & spacey. Lots of lights and colors during their stage performances. Not much differed from the actual concept sketch which is pretty rare.

Printing was done by Ray & folk over at Good Thoughts with a nice gold border and popping fluorescent inks and came out to be 6-colors… 18’x 24.. The print run was 375 and I will be selling 45 copies signed/numbered.
