The String Cheese Incident, Vegas 2015 – “Sin City Incident’ poster

SCI_final

More String Cheese Incident for ya’s. I was given the task to create a poster for SCI’s 3-day “Sin City Incident” stay in Vegas at the Brooklyn Bowl which I had never been to and was anxious to check out. The past couple SCI prints have been pretty trippy & cosmic so for this one I was told to go more straight forward and less feathers, wood nymphs & spirit creatures… you know, to mix it up a bit.

I came up with a ton of ideas that ranged from homages to “Fear & Loathing” to more straight up classic Vegas imagery (showgirls, slot machines, ratpack, etc.) but ended up really liking the idea of a King & Queen on a rampage soaking up a night of Sinfulness. Plus the show hits on Valentine’s so I thought that was a nice reference.

The final print was done by Ray and folk at Good Thoughts Printing and came out kickass. A real fluorescent blacklight delight…. lemme tell you. It’s a 5-color print,… 18’x 24′ and is now available in the store, as a limited run of Artist Prints (signed / AP)

    Hello,

Your String Cheese event posters are incredible!

I already own the New Years and your most recent Vegas print is my one of my most favorites that I have ever owned. I was admiring it and decided to visit your website. When looking I saw your sketches for your early drafts and ideas for the poster. The show girl and the Fear and Loathing sketches look like they would have been pretty awesome too if you had gone that way.

That being said, is there any chance you still have those sketches, and would possibly sell to me for my personal archive? It is important for me to say that this wouldn’t ever end up for resale and would further document that fantastic weekend in Vegas.

I look forward to hearing from you, as well as more art for SCI in the future!

    Sincerely,

    Clay Shirley
