“Immortality” art print

I was recently contacted by a group of Pearl Jam fans that put together a regular poster commission, having an Artist create an interpretation of one of Pearl Jam’s songs. I dont do a lot of commissions but they have had a number of great Artist create pieces for the group in the past and I knew I would be in great company.

The song itself, “Immortality”, is pretty somber and can be read to be about the trappings of fame and eventual destruction it can cause,.. in this case specifically referring to the 90’s Seattle scene. As celebrated as it is, there is always a lingering sadness associated with it.

These bands were my jam and a heavy influence when I was growing up and 25+ years later are still a lot of what I listen to today. That scene may be gone and dead but to me remains immortal.

Vacate is the word…vengeance has no place so near to her
Cannot find the comfort in this world
Artificial tear…vessel stabbed…next up volunteers
Vulnerable wisdom can’t adhere…
A truant finds home…and I wish to hold on…
But there’s a trapdoor in the sun…immortality…
As privileged as a whore…victims in demand for public show
Swept out through the cracks beneath the door
Holier than thou how?
Surrendered…executed anyhow
Scrawl dissolved, cigar box on the floor…
A truant finds home…and I wish to hold on, too…
But saw the trapdoor in the sun…
Immortality…
I cannot stop the thought…I’m running in the dark…
Coming up a which way sign…all good truants must decide…
Oh, stripped and sold, mom…auctioned forearm…
And whiskers in the sink…
Truants move on…cannot stay long
Some die just to live…
Ohh…

The final print is a 6-color screenprint (18″ x 24″) with an original print run of 100 which were all exclusive to the commission group but I will have an extremely limited amount of Artist Edition prints available (Signed/Numbered) on Weds. June 26 @ 11am (EST).

Along with the regular run I will have a small set of Rainbow foil & Lava foil variants available.
