Widespread Panic NYE 2018 Atlanta designs
Another year, … another Widespread Panic New Years extravaganza. This year I was given the task to come up with some multi-use designs for the bands big 3-night end of the year run here in Atlanta. The Fox Theater is known for its ornate, gorgeous, Egyptian-themed interior which was the basis and starting point for coming up with concepts.
Off the bat we spoke of a design that could be used for apparel as well as possibly a mini-print which the band has been doing more of lately. As we developed the concept of the Egyptian Cosmic Pharaoh & Queen we realized that it could work quite well as a reversible print with a design lined up on either side.
Though the designs for the shirts/hoodies are a lot more vibrant and colorful we thought the prints should have a more simplified and regal quality with a Gold metallic paper.
Lining up a reversible print is not an easy task for a printer but the folks at Ruby Sue (Athens, GA) did an amazing job printing these.
While chatting w/ the band about other possible merch, we decided to try out some rad collectible Gold Coins, which is something the band had never done before. The finished result surprisingly was able to express a lot of detail and had a nice weight to them.
I will have a small run of about 36 mini-prints (9″ x 9″) available for Sale on Friday (Jan 4th). Due to the quantity & timing, the band copies sold at the show were not numbered and have a Signature printed as a part of the artwork. My Artist Edition will be the only ones signed/numbered. Along w/ the prints I will have a small stash of about 18 coins (2″ x 2″) for Sale as well which I expect to go fast.
Nine Inch Nails at San Francisco (Bill Graham) poster
I am stoked to release the artwork for my Nine Inch Nails print commissioned by the promoter for their 2-day run this week in San Francisco. This bands music has been the soundtrack of variants points of my life since high school and getting to do a print for them is a huge checkmark on my bucket list.
TRPS poster show 2018
Its that time of year again. Time for the show of shows. The big one for true old school poster nerds. It’s time for TRPS Festival of Rock Posters show at the Hall of Flowers in San Francisco. This show mixes a slew of contemporary gigposter artists and OG Fillmore/Grateful Dead artists from the 60’s and truly is a special event which I try to make it back for every year. It all is going down this weekend, on October 20th.
I will be bringing some Rare & Sold Out prints so get there early.
