DC Brau mural #2… The Return of more hairy bearded things.

The local badasses of brewing, DC Brau, had me in a week or so ago to throw up a new mural inside the brewery. It took me a couple hours over 2 days and I wrapped it up during their weekly Saturday tour & tasting. If the design looks familiar it is because I had initially created for a beer growler design and DC Brau t-shirt.

I’m just starting to enjoy and get the hang of doing things on such a large scale and want to do more murals down the line. I treat it almost like screenprinting,.. doing each flat color at a time, a lot of times w/ a pre-made stencil. I suck at aerosol so next step is to teach my self to be less anal and go w/ the flow more. Who cares if I screw up.

Talking w/ DC Brau, I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing a new piece in the next couple months.

Chameleon Glass catalog 2013…

A couple months ago I got contacted to do some work for the leading glass pipe vendor in the country, Chameleon Glass, including this years new catalog cover. They were real easy to work with and wanted something “really busy”. I kept getting emails… “maybe busier, .. a little busier”. They wanted something that you could look at for a while, I’m guessing while stoned,… just a guess.. and will find new things and see details you hadn’t seen before.

There is word that they will be making this into a blacklight poster which would be sweet. Would love to see this as a blacklight. I’ll keep you updated about this and will hope to get some copies available up on the site.

I likez Soundgarden.

I recently had the pleasure of working with with one of my favorite band growing up, Soundgarden, on a print for the first night of their tour. That’s right,.. I like Soundgarden… screw you. I went for a job interview once at Rasputin Records in Berkeley over 10 years ago and they asked me what some of my favorite bands were and I mentioned Soundgarden in there… and the girl scoffed at me. “Uhhh Soundgarden??” I didn’t get the job. All for the best,.. that place blows.

Anyways enough of my own insecurities. The first stop of the tour was DAR Constitution Hall, Washington DC and the show was rad. I believe the poster sold out at the show.

Here is an early concept sketch. It was a lot more rural… and straight forward. I decided to go w/ more of apocalyptic DC scene and trip it out
