The Closer wine labels…
I love making art that you can drink. I recently wrapped up a project with 3 Finger Wine Co. rebranding their “The Closer“ line for 2 new bottles.
The folks at 3 Finger are big fans of the old 60’s Fillmore style of art and initially the bottles were to have a more “gigposter-y” look to them but eventually morphed into straight graphic psychedelia. Each bottle was to have a different deity from different culture or line of mythology.

Secret Agent 23 Skidoo, “Wake Up the Dream” album art…
I was recently approached by Grammy-award winning kids musician, Secret Agent 23 Skidoo to do the layout and artwork for his latest album, Wake Up the Dream. Kids music is a new genre for me but the album was an interesting mix of hiphop, funk & Motown all swirled around with life instrumentation from a collective of over 40 musicians. I liked the vibe and the message that he was promoting and was all about being a part of it.
The album itself is kind of a concept album in with all the songs touching on the theme of “dreaming“. Each song tells a story and DJ’s Uncle Unk (Unconscious) & Sub C (Subconscious) broadcast in-between songs from WREM Sleep Radio. All of this fed the direction of the artwork which was to be something dreamy & vivid. It started off a bit more literal, eventually morphing into a kind of Sleep totem and finally landing on a kind of Nocturnal Owl, sleep spirit.
Wake Up the Dream is available now through Amazon Music…
Dead & Company Chula Vista, CA poster – 2018
Over the years I have been lucky enough to work with a number of different incarnations of the Grateful Dead from Phil & Friends, to the Jerry Garcia Estate, The Mickey Hart Band, Bob Weir & Furthur. This week is the first time I have had the pleasure of working with the current touring incarnation, DEAD & COMPANY for their tour stop in Chula Vista, CA.
The Dead has a lot of traditional imagery they like to use (Dead bears, roses, Uncle Sam, etc..) but I have always been keen on their surf imagery over the years mostly provided by artist Rick Griffin in the 70’s & 80’s. The beachy vibe of the venue being down in the San Diego area felt like the perfect setting for me to try and give my own surfy spin on the Steal Your Face.
Some folks have reached out me asking about the “12-point Lightning Bolt” on the latest Dead & Company poster….. I understand your concerns but don’t you worry, we didn’t forget the 13th. We are heads and know the deal.
The Lightning bolt was stylized below to mix in w/ the pattern of the water… its there.
