MOE. St. Paddy’s Day NYC poster…
It has been a couple years since I have worked with the band MOE. on anything, so I was happy to get the call to do their run of big NYC St. Patrick’s Day shows this year. St. Paddy’s is my jam.
I wanted to steer clear from a lot of generic Irish & St. Patricks Day imagery… leprechauns, drinking, etc. and try and find something fitting that also feel very New York City. I’ve always loved the fountains NYC has in a number of their squares, especially those that represent the ol’ “green man” sculpture.
The final poster is a whopping 6-colors, (18’x 24′) print printed by Half & Half and has a print run of 200 which will be available by the band at the show. I will have a small Artist Edition run of 35 Signed & Numbered for sale on (Weds) March 23rd @ 11AM (PST).
The String Cheese Incident returns to Oakland – 2016
The String Cheese Incident are back in town for a 2-day run at the Oakland Fox Theater and with that comes a new print. I’ve enjoyed working with these guys over the years on random gigs here and there but the ability to work on shows in my own town is always a special one. I get a chance to go big and represent the ol’ neighborhood.
The concept for this was an attempt to make a kind of California Spirit Animal, a bear w/ an Oakland headdress filled with elements & iconic imagery of the area (Grand Lake Theater, Fox Theater, Port loaders, etc..). Originally it was going to be a pretty lady w/ a bear headdress w/ an Oakland headdress but that was a bit much.
Props to Good Thoughts for the great print job. The final poster is a 5-color with a print run of 300. I will be selling a small Signed/Numbered run on (Mon) March 14th @ 11AM (PST).
Terrapin Crossroads 4th Anniversary – Phil Lesh & Friends print
The great thing about my job is that not only do you get to work with fun bands a lot of the times but on occasion you get to work w/ other awesome artists. I got the call to do a print for the Phil Lesh & Friend’s “4th Anniversary Bash” at his music venue, Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, CA. They asked if I’d be interested in doing a collab w/ longtime poster badass Alan Forbes (Phil Lesh, Black Crowes, Mammatus, etc..) whose work I have always loved.
Alan provided the lettering & the terrapins. We both have a hand drawn illustration style that I think worked well together and the print came out looking rad.
The final poster is a 5-color, (18’x 24′) printed by Monolith Press with a print run of 200 which will be available by the band at the show. I will have a very small Artist Edition run of about 20 Signed & Numbered for sale on (Mon) March 14th @ 11AM (PST).
A small handful of Foils were created and were SOLD OUT at the show. I have a small run of about 5 or so that I am contemplating how to release as simply putting them up in the store will surely be a shit show. Please don’t write asking for copies. I appreciate the love but will try and figure a way to release these fairly.
