Primus “Tribute to Kings” Atlanta poster, 2021

Primus is back on the road and are currently playing what they call the “Tribute to Kings” Tour. At every gig the band plays Rush‘s epic album A Farewell to Kings (1977) in its entirety. I was lucky to get the call to do a print for the local Atlanta show.

I am a big Primus fan and a big early-Rush fan so this was perfect. The vibe of the band back then as well as the theme and subject matter of the album is very proggy and psychedelic. Epic cosmic imagery,… space wizards… explorers.. killer mustaches. I wanted the poster to drip with 70’s goodness and came up with the idea of the groovy cosmic wanderer. It being a Primus poster I also threw in a number of not so subtle nods to some of my favorite imagery from their past.

Along with the regular edition I will have a small run of different variants…
